Backbox with extended grille mounting flange for recessed installation is ideal for new construction where the flange can protect the opening from plaster, poured concrete or sheetrock. It can also be used in new or existing construction when installed in suspended tile ceilings.

A&E SPECIFICATIONS

The recessed backbox for 8 in. speakers shall be Lowell Model No. CP87, which shall be 22-gauge steel with a black powder epoxy finish, undercoated to eliminate acoustic and mechanical resonance. It shall have a 12 in. diameter with 6.69 in. depth. The backbox shall feature an extended grille mounting flange, four 0.5–0.75 in. compound knockouts for conduit, four 0.5 in. knockouts for wire and 1.5 in. thick acoustic lining.
